Chinese Programs
Introduction
The Chinese Language Centre is a three-partner collaboration between Villa College, and Chang’an University and Hunan Mass Media and Vocational and Technical College from China, under an agreement between Villa College and the Chinese International Education Foundation. The centre was inaugurated on 28 September 2020 and is set to launch its programmes in November. Most courses will be conducted face-to-face at the QI campus in Male’, though some customer-tailored programmes may be conducted virtually, with additional face-to-face time. The class size will be up to 20 per group, and the classes will be interactive, enabling participants to learn spoken Chinese initially, useful for general conversation, as well as tourism & hospitality, and other occupations. Classes will normally be held between 4PM and 8PM, and some at the weekend. The programmes will also enable younger learners to have easier access to tours and opportunities for further studies in China.Chinese Language Programmes

Tourism Chinese / Chinese for Resorts
This customer-tailored programme caters to the needs of learners with zero Chinese language foundation, aiming to enable learners to communicate with tourists from China in resorts, duty free shops and airport, etc. It focuses not only on dialogues useful in those workplaces but also relevant Chinese etiquette and culture.

- Commonly used Chinese in catering service
- Relevant Chinese culture and workshop

Online Chinese Class for Kids
This course is a live online holiday course offered by Chinese Language Centre at Villa College for primary school students across the Maldives. The course is designed for beginners and aims to enable learners to have an initial understanding and learning of Chinese. The course combines language teaching, cultural introduction and game activities, enabling students to learn Chinese language and China through perceptual activities.
The course content focuses on vocabularies and topics close to life including greetings, numbers, body parts, colors, animals, fruits and vegetables and interesting Chinese characters. The topics could be introduced through games and discussions involving students both physically and mentally in learning process. At the end of the course, students will get to know some culture about Chinese Spring Festival.
Easy Chinese for Schools (level 1 - 4)
This programme is a series of courses for grades 1-7. It focuses on general Chinese communication, ranging from Chinese phonetics, vocabulary, grammar and cultural workshops. It enables learners to have a solid foundation of integrated Chinese language competence in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Business Chinese (primary and intermediate level)
This content-based programme aims to enable learners to use Chinese language in business communication. The primary level focuses on conversation for business transactions. The intermediate level emphasizes on reading and writing for business communication.
